Hi - I'm new here, but here's my story of why I hate Buy Rite video games.
Well, over the years, they've always sold cheap stuff to me. But then I went and I bought a refurbished Xbox from them. When I took the thing home, it didn't work. So I thought... okay. I took it back the next day and asked for a refund, but they said that it wasn't broken when it left the store, therefore it is my fault that it broke. I was FURIOUS. I lost it in the store yelling and shouting and screaming that I want my money back. They evetually said that all they'll do is refund me ten bucks and give me a used one with no warranty. So I took it, because I was about to blow up. I got the d**n thing home and it didn't work! I tried to take it back... but NO WARRANTY.. so now I'm stuck with a really expensive doorstop.
Oh, by the way, I live in Raleigh, NC.

That sucks dude. Here's the problem that I see. You were ripped off the first time with the broken Xbox. You should have learned from that mistake there but, you let your emotions take over. So they offer you another one with no warranty (big mistake). If you know you got ripped the first time you should have known that they were going to rip you a second time. I don't know how much you paid for the refurbished Xbox but EB and Gamestop run them for $120 (guarnteed to work!); I doubt Buyrite guarntees their products to work. Also, Xbox's are $150 brandnew. The $10 that they gave you was more of a "get out of my face" type of deal. I'm sorry for your loss, but next time when you shop for expensive video game equipment, do it with care. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask if they guarntee that their products have no defects in them, and if you are still suspicious about their word, then ask the owner or a supervisor if you can have their guarntee in writing. If they say no, ask why and see what they say. And another thing, don't let them push you around with a mear $10, that's not even gas money ya know. I'm not trying to be a prick or anything, I'm just giving you my opinon on the situation and what you could have done to prevent it.

You can use the parts in the xbox though.
The hard drive can be converted to work with a pc so you can at least use that (if theres one inside)
The cd drive can be taken out and used for a pc.
Dont just through it away yet, at least you can get some use out of the rip off.
Just google xbox info on this kind of stuff.

Sorry to hear about being put through the hassle of trying to return something to Buy-Rite. Not fun. I'm just stating the obvious here, but have you tried getting a friend who's familiar with the system to look at it/hook it up for you? I wouldn't put it above Buy-Rite (selling broken stuff), but 2 broken systems in a row is bad even for them. Warranty or not, at least you could try to get them to test it out for you (while you watch). I mean, they know you bought the system from them. There's alot of things that could make the system seem "broken" that could be easily remedied.
