Because 90% of their transactions go fairly smoothly. They really don't go out of their way to try and rip people off you know. It's just that the small percentage of people that do have a bad transaction are very vocal about it.

Here's how I see it. At ebay, gamebuyers aka buyrite have to make sure to keep their winning bidders happy or else negative feedback is given for all to see. Now in the case of directly buying from their online store, there's no system set up for customer reviews. Customers visiting the site would not be aware of any screw ups/scams, etc by Buyrite unless they had checked them out at the Better Business Bureau or heard about their bad reputation from other sources.
